FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) — No charges will be filed in the fatal shooting that claimed the lives of two brothers at Mac’s Speed Shop in Fayetteville, according to police.

Officers said the incident started with a verbal altercation that turned physical before shots were fired.

Investigators identified the victims as Timothy Nakamoto, 43, and Daniel Nakamoto, 45; the brothers did not know the shooter.

According to Fayetteville police, after reviewing evidence, witness statements, and video surveillance, it was determined that the person who fired the gun acted in lawful self-defense.

As a result of the findings, no criminal charges will be filed against the person.

Fayetteville Police Department will not be releasing the identity of the person because they have not been charged with a crime.
