CHIPPEWA COUNTY — The Bay Mills Indian Community has issued an emergency boil water advisory after a vehicle struck a fire hydrant, causing significant damage to the water main. Tap water can still be used to shower, wash clothes, and flush toilets, but boiled or bottled water should be used for any consumption, including brushing your teeth.
This boil advisory impacts all of the Bay Mills Indian Community reservation, including those areas off reservation like, South Lang Drive. This does not affect the Bay Mills Resort & Casino due to being on a separate well system.
The advisory will remain in effect until repairs are completed and water quality is confirmed.
