The news was first shared by TV host Gayle King, who was expected to interview the cast on Tuesday’s CBS Mornings. Sitting with Tan France, Jonathan Van Ness, and Antoni Porowski, Gayle said, “We received word just in less than an hour ago that Karamo Brown is not going to be joining us today.”The Queer Eye cast discusses Karamo Brown's absence in an interview on CBS Mornings

According to Karamo’s assistant, Karamo was “worried about being bullied.” Gayle also read a statement from Karamo himself, where he apologized for his absence and said he stepped back to protect his mental health. “I hope everyone remembers the main theme I have tried to teach them over the past decade, which is to focus on and to protect their mental health/peace from people or a world who seek to destroy it,” he said, “which is why I can’t be there today.”Karamo Brown speaks at a podium with Los Angeles LGBT Center signage in the background

“I will say, our Queer Eye family, we’ve been doing this for almost a decade — which is pretty wild to believe — and families are complicated and we’re definitely not excluded from that,” he continued. “But I think two things can exist at the same time. Jonathan added that they were “proud” of Karamo for prioritizing his well-being. “I’m actually really proud of him,” Jonathan said as Tan nodded in agreement. “Center what you need. Since then, Karamo has unfollowed all of his co-stars except newcomer Jeremiah Brent.
