Frozen Ever After at EPCOT will close tomorrow, January 25, as it undergoes updates to install new Audio-Animatronics of Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff.

Frozen Ever After Closing for UpdatesProjection-Face Audio Animatronics Being Replaced on Frozen Ever After at EPCOT

In 2023, World of Frozen opened at Hong Kong Disneyland, featuring many technical updates for the Frozen Ever After boat ride, mirroring the same attraction at Walt Disney World’s EPCOT.

Among those updates were impressive, new Audio-Animatronics of Elsa, Anna, and Kristoff with articulated, physical faces. Contrastly, the equivalent figures in EPCOT’s original iteration of the ride featured, arguably, less-than-seamless projected faces cast onto otherwise blank animatronic heads.

The immediate feedback from Disney fans was strong: bring these figures to Walt Disney World. And, as Disney announced back in October last year, fans would get their request – as the new, more physical style of animatronic models for these characters would come to North America in EPCOT’s ride.

The ride is set to close tomorrow, January 26, 2026. According to the ride’s official webpage on the Walt Disney World resort website:

Frozen Ever After will temporarily close for refurbishment January 26, 2026 and reopen in February 2026 with updates to Anna, Elsa and Kristoff Audio-Animatronics figures. Read more on The Disney Parks Blog.

As the announcement suggests, the ride changes should occur in relatively short order, with an expected reopening date next month. No specific day has been announced.

If you are a Florida local or happen to be visiting Walt Disney World today and tomorrow, this might be your last chance to experience the popular Frozen ride in its original form – if, for whatever reason, you actually enjoy the projected faces.
