No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz def. No. 6 Alex De Minaur, 7-5, 6-2, 6-1

No. 3 Alexander Zverev def. No. 25 Learner Tien, 6-3, 6-7 (5), 6-1, 7-6 (3)

Carlos Alcaraz wasted little time in his three-set triumph over Alex De Minaur.

The Australian gave Alcaraz a bit of a fight in the opening set, but then the top seed cruised, as he lost just three games in the second and third sets.

The win gave Alcaraz his first semifinal berth at the Australian Open. He’s two wins away from securing the career Grand Slam at the age of 22.

Alcaraz will be favored against No. 3 seed Alexander Zverev in the semifinals.

Zverev, now a four-time semifinalist in Australia, needed four sets to eliminate American Learner Tien.

Zverev is a three-time Grand Slam finalist in his own right. He plays best on the hard courts, but it’ll be difficult to slow Alcaraz down in the form that he is in.
