COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Mount Carmel Health System has announced the opening of a new state-of-the-art hybrid cardiovascular operating room at Mount Carmel East, marking a significant investment in advanced cardiac care for central Ohio.
The nearly $5 million facility, which officially opened on Jan. 13, is designed to accommodate the projected growth in structural heart procedures and endovascular interventions over the next decade.
Mount Carmel anticipates more than 100% growth in structural heart procedures and a 40% increase in endovascular interventions. In addition, the OR will support rapid growth in other procedures such as a transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), mitral and tricuspid valve repair, and complex endovascular interventions.

The hybrid OR combines advanced imaging technology with a full surgical environment, enabling physicians to perform minimally invasive, life-saving procedures with enhanced precision and flexibility.

This development comes as cardiovascular disease continues to be the leading cause of death in the U.S., and just in time for Heart Month in February, when heart health is a primary focus.
