One of the fascinating fan aspects of global soccer (and collegiate sports) is when a large element of the stands sing in unison. Whether it’s ten, thirty or seventy thousand, there’s power to the chorus of unified voices supporting their team.

These multi-generational traditions also help people new to a team start to capture the history of a club. The song could be “Bow Down to Washington” or “You’ll Never Walk Alone.” The shores and the sport do not matter – unity of spirit does.

In Seattle there are a few songs we sing every match at specific moments.

Today I ask you to sing with me.

Sing when Brian Schmetzer walks out. It’s a simple chant.

🗣️ Brian Schmetzer’s Rave Green Army

Sing “Seattle” right at kickoff.

🎼 The bluest skies you’ve ever seen are in Seattle
And the hills the greenest green, in Seattle
Like a beautiful child, growing up, free and wild
Full of hopes and full of fears, full of laughter, full of tears (beers)
Full of dreams to last the years, in Seattle. . . in Seattle! 🎼

Sing “Roll on Columbia” at the 12th minute.

🎵Roll on Columbia, roll on
Roll on Columbia, roll on
Your power is turning the darkness to dawn
So roll on Columbia, roll on 🎵

Sing “Sounders ’til I die” at the 74th minute.

🎶I’m Sounders ‘til I die
I’m Sounders ‘til I die
I know I am, I’m sure I am
I’m Sounders ‘til I die🎶

Yes, the Emerald City Supporters lead these songs. They are our songs whether we are members or not. These traditions are our traditions – just like the boom-boom-clap, the call-and-repeat and scarves up. When the players win trophies they join in these songs. They know these songs. These songs we sing are part of us.

These are the songs of unity.

These are the songs of the Seattle Sounders.

Sing with me.

A correction was made to the song sung in the 74th minute.
