A woman is in critical condition after being struck by a Pittsburgh Regional Transit bus in Oakland on Monday evening, according to a PRT spokesperson.Allegheny County dispatchers confirmed to Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 that first responders were on the scene along Fifth Avenue and South Neville Street just after 7 p.m.Video shared with Action News 4 showed multiple police officers and emergency responders blocking off the road to traffic.Watch video in playfinder above A spokesperson for PRT said the 58-Greenfield bus was turning left from Neville Street onto Fifth Avenue when it struck the woman in her late twenties.The victim was taken to UPMC Presbyterian hospital. PRT officials said Monday night she was in critical, but stable condition. “We saw the bus and we saw someone under the bus and their hands were moving all around and we didn’t know what was going on,” said Carnegie Mellon University student Abdul Brooks.Brooks said he watched first responders pull the victim to safety. “They got a bunch of wood planks, at least like 30, and they kind of just levied the top of the bus up just enough so they grabbed her out and put her right on the stretcher,” Brooks told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 Reporter Jordan Cioppa. Greenfield resident Sammy Balyasny said he got off the bus minutes before it happened. “You don’t really expect this to happen but when this does happen you start to think about how you’re going to get to work every day,” said Balyasny, who commutes on the 58-Greenfield route daily.
