It’s not every day you get to see an entire herd of elephants play like a bunch of kids, but that’s exactly what Nomad’s Den witnessed while on safari in South Africa at the end of January. Talk about being in the right place at the right time!

From babies to full-grown adults, the elephants lined up and took turns sliding down a muddy hill that had turned into a natural slip-and-slide after heavy rains. One by one, they slid, stumbled, and splashed their way down, clearly having a blast. Make sure your sound is on because the visitors on safari were all laughing like kids. Honestly, watching them have that much fun was just as entertaining as being there!

Nomad’s Den explained more in the video’s caption, “Last week we had the most hilarious sighting on safari with @__myafrica__. With all the rain, we thought we might see something a little different… and that’s exactly what we got! The ellies were making the most of it, turning this hill into a slip-and-slide!”

What a cool scene to stumble upon; it’s one that most people never get a chance to see!

Fun Reactions to the Elephant’s Slip and Sliding Down the Muddy Hill

Nomad’s Den’s video was an instant hit on Instagram, and, like us, people got a kick out of watching the elephants play; viewers left more than 2,000 comments.

Commenter @pim_van_de_leur must have been one of the lucky people on the safari because they said, “I apologize for my childlike laughter in the audio…” Everybody agreed when @lpreston replied, “Your laughter makes it even cuter!!” @ninjaroux_wtf added, “It’s the collective ‘weeeee’ in the end for me!”

@ludovici.likes shared, “Adorable! We’re all the same, just trapped in different bodies. I’ve seen two pigeons doing this over and over on an icy roof!”

Fun is fun, no matter how big or small you are…and this is what makes life worth living!!!”, said @ejen908. Nomad’s Den replied, “100% they know how to make the most out of a rainy day!”
