Law enforcement and fire crews are on the scene of an explosion at a plant in Fremont. The scene is at Horizon Biofuels Inc., located near East Cloverly Road and South Union Street.Fremont Mayor Joey Spellerberg said three people were inside the plant when it exploded just before noon Tuesday. We tried to get access, but just due to the collapse with the mangled steel and we were unable to get inside at that point, that’s when we made the call for Task Force to come in,” Bernt said.Witnesses told KETV that a three-mile radius surrounding the plant is blocked off. Nebraska State Patrol asked people to avoid the area until the scene is secure.Horizon Biofuels makes fuel pellets and animal bedding. In a statement, Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen said officials are monitoring the explosion.”We will continue to closely monitor the explosion in Fremont in coordination with local responders, law enforcement, and state partners.
