Phoenix Mercury forward Satou Sabally sat courtside for the Suns game, taking in the action as the team rallied from a double-digit deficit. Her presence was a reminder that Arizona athletes often show up for one another across leagues.

Just recently, Phoenix Suns All-Star Devin Booker visited Tempe to check out the G League on Jan. 25, and other Suns players have made appearances earlier in the season, further highlighting the connection between professional teams in the state.

Head coach Paul Jesperson said the support from visiting Arizona athletes does not go unnoticed.

“Those guys love that, they feed off that. It gets them a little spark, especially when you get in these dog days.”

“Those guys love that,” he said postgame on what it means for these athletes to show up and support his group. “It gets them a little spark, especially when you get in these dog days of the season where you’re playing every other day… We appreciate the support. We’ll support them wherever we get the opportunity as well.”

Sabally, in particular, has been very open about her desire to support local teams and foster connections across Arizona sports. Since arriving in the desert, she has attended Phoenix Suns and Arizona Diamondbacks games, met with Phoenix Rising players, and engaged with fans, creating a strong inter-league bond and helping raise awareness for teams outside of the WNBA.

Her involvement has made a visible impact, showcasing her dedication to bringing Arizona sports communities together and drawing more eyes to different professional leagues in the state.
