Frozen Ever After is now open, a day earlier than originally announced. The EPCOT ride has been closed since January 26 to primarily give the animatronics of Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff physical faces instead of projected ones.

The updated Anna and Elsa figures in the ride’s finale

The Norway pavilion attraction soft opened on the afternoon of Wednesday, February 11, despite not showing the attraction as open in the My Disney Experience app.

In addition to new animatronic heads, the ride received refreshed show lighting, set touch-ups, and an updated show control system. Disney shared a preview of the updated animatronics before the soft opening.

When Frozen Ever After opened in 2016, replacing Maelstrom, the human animatronics had projected faces (Olaf and Sven have always had physical faces). Though the projections were a technological feat for the time, they didn’t always look or work well.

In 2023, a second version of Frozen Ever After opened at Hong Kong Disneyland with World of Frozen. The ride’s technical advancements included impressive Audio-Animatronics with articulated, physical faces.

Disney announced in 2025 that Frozen Ever After at EPCOT would get the physical faces, too.
