COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A Southwest Michigan manufacturing plant will be closing its doors next month, according to a document released by the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO).

Grouper Acquisition Company, LLC which operates as Shiloh Industries, announced Feb. 2 that it will close its plant at 9000 E. Michigan Ave. in Comstock Township near Galesburg on March 31.

As a result of the closure, 160 employees will lose their jobs, documents detailed.

Positions eliminated include plant managers, engineers, material technicians, mechanics, maintenance workers, material handling coordinators and welders, according to LEO.

A reason for the closure has not been reported.

News Channel 3 reached out to the corporate office for an interview, but was told the company had no comment at the time, and no arrangements for interviews would be made.

Dura-Shiloh, headquartered in Auburn Hills, Mich., is a global mobility systems supplier that specializes in the design, engineering and manufacturing of BEV battery enclosures, park-lock actuators, lightweight structural systems, and laminated acoustic panels.

The manufacturer has seven locations in the United States.

In addition to Comstock Township, the company is shutting down its metal stamping facility in northern Indiana on March 31, according to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
