Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham has caught the attention of some pro wrestling executives due to her fierce role as an enforcer for teammate Caitlin Clark.
When the Fever signed Cunningham in the off-season, she made it quite clear that she was ready to support Clark and handle any intimidation or physical tactics opponents might dole out.
“Just the competitor that I am, I’m fierce, I’m sassy,” Cunningham said. “I stick up for my teammates. I stick up for myself. Sometimes, I think that’s okay to be feisty and be yourself.”
She had a chance to prove herself in a game against the Connecticut Sun last month. Guard Jacy Sheldon poked Clark in the eye, and a dust-up ensued, followed by guard Marina Mabrey slamming the WNBA’s top star to the floor.
Cunningham did not waver on her promise to stick up for her teammate, delivering a hard foul to Sheldon in retaliation later in the quarter and getting herself ejected. Yeah, message sent.
Things were HEATED between the Sun and Fever tonight 😳

Sophie Cunningham – Basketball Player, Blonde Bombshell, and Now … Wrestler?
Sophie Cunningham’s physical style, highlighted by that flagrant foul that led to a brawl and ejections, apparently caught the eye of some professional wrestling executives.
Women of Wrestling (WOW) co-owner Jeanie Buss (you may remember her as the President of the Los Angeles Lakers) praised Cunningham’s talent and competitiveness, expressing interest in having her join the promotion.
“We would love to have [Sophie] join us at [WOW],” Buss wrote on X. “She is talented, dedicated, and a fierce competitor!”
She is all of those things.
Buss has described the women of WOW as “some of the strongest people I’ve ever met in my life,” and believes Cunningham would fit right in.
David McLane, Buss’s partner at WOW, concurs.
“I’m from Indiana. I’m from Indianapolis, and that’s the home of not only the second-best basketball team in the country this last year, but the biggest name in professional basketball today, Caitlin Clark,” McClane told the Daily Mirror. “And Caitlin Clark has an enforcer.”
“She’s the Marty McSorley to Wayne Gretzky, and she is a stunning athlete,” he added.
Not Just About Looks
With apologies to McClane, I don’t see McSorley when looking at that picture above. Which brings us to another point. Sophie Cunningham has other assets that would make her a good addition to WOW.
McLane has an eye for these things. He is, after all, the creator of GLOW – Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling.
Cunningham certainly fits the bill. She has always been a spectacular presence on social media, wowing fans with her game-day and event outfits.
Prior to signing with Indiana, Sophie was flat-out breaking necks with her look at last year’s WNBA All-Star Weekend. And who could forget the time the bombshell “entered the villa”?
But as Buss points out to the Mirror, this wrestling promotion isn’t just about eye candy. It’s about athelticism. Entertainment.
“David first invited me to come see women of wrestling,” Buss explained. “I came up with every excuse I could not to because I thought it was mud wrestling or oil wrestling, jello wrestling, that’s what it used to be back in the 90s.”
“And I am so proud of how far it’s come. And all those images are out of your mind. It’s a real sport, and these are real athletes.”
Sophie Cunningham would be a perfect fit.
