The Boston Bruins returned to practice earlier this week as they prepare to get back in action in the wake of the 2026 Winter Olympics. And yet, the team and its players have been keeping close tabs on the Games, with the B’s star defenseman, Charlie McAvoy, helping lead Team USA to the gold medal game.
The Americans have been dominant throughout this tournament, as they breezed past Slovakia by a score of 6-2 on Friday night. As has been the case throughout the tournament, McAvoy played big minutes for Team USA, and after the clock hit zero, the Bruins shared a hilarious reaction to the win on social media.

McAvoy has yet to record a point during the Games, but he’s been primarily manning the top defensive pairing alongside Quinn Hughes of the Minnesota Wild. The Americans have only allowed eight goals over their five games played, with McAvoy playing a large role in that stingy defensive effort.
Team USA still has one big challenge left ahead on its schedule, as it has set up a highly anticipated faceoff against Canada, with a gold medal on the line. The Canadians got the better of the Americans last year when these two nations squared off in the Four Nations Final, but to this point, Team USA has been playing better hockey. Puck drop for this game is scheduled for 8:10 a.m. ET on Sunday morning.
