An actor widely known for his work on The Walking Dead has officially joined the cast of the Yellowstone spin-off, Marshals. His arrival sets up fresh tension for Kayce Dutton and signals that the new CBS drama won’t be short on conflict.
Michael Cudlitz joins Marshals cast as Kayce Dutton’s enemy
Michael Cudlitz steps in as Randall Clegg, the tough boss of a Montana ranch dynasty that’s said to go toe-to-toe with the Dutton legacy. The casting clearly sets him up as a major roadblock for Kayce Dutton, played by Luke Grimes, as Kayce enters a fresh chapter in the spinoff.
The tension shows up fast in an early teaser. Randall throws shade, saying the Dutton name no longer holds weight and mocking Kayce for hiding behind a federal badge. Kayce, the former Navy SEAL, doesn’t stay quiet. He snaps back that Randall still has a long fall before reaching his level. The brief exchange makes one thing clear: these two are headed for a heated showdown.
The new drama picks up with Kayce after the fallout of Yellowstone. He joins forces with his former military boss, Pete Calvin, played by Logan Marshall-Green, and takes on a new role as a U.S. Marshal. This time, the story shifts gears. It focuses more on Kayce’s combat roots than ranch politics.
Cudlitz is set to show up in multiple episodes starting March 15. The cast lineup also features Arielle Kebbel, Ash Santos, and Tatanka Means. Familiar Yellowstone faces return, too, including Gil Birmingham and Brecken Merrill. The series premieres March 1 on CBS and will also stream on Paramount+.
Best known as Sgt. Abraham Ford on The Walking Dead, Cudlitz has quietly built a solid résumé across TV and film. He also delivered strong turns in Southland and Band of Brothers, proving his range. Now, his arrival in Marshals injects some veteran grit into the growing Yellowstone universe. It also tees up a rough-and-ready Montana clash that looks ready to spark.
