BASOM, N.Y. — Exciting news out of the Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge in Orleans and Genesee counties. Officials at the refuge believe a female bald eagle laid her first egg.

The egg was likely laid on Friday evening, officials said. There is a possibility she could lay a second egg as soon as Tuesday or Wednesday.

Bald eagle eggs typically take around 35 days to hatch.
