Manchester United have confirmed a decrease in commercial revenue in their second quarter financial results. The commercial revenue for the quarter was £78.5million, a drop of £6.6m on the same period last year.
In the second quarter financial results release on Wednesday afternoon, United confirmed sponsorship revenue was £37.2million, is a decrease of £5.8 million.
United’s training kit sponsorship agreement with Tezos expired at the end of June. United have gone this season without a training kit sponsor for the first time since 2021/2022, when their agreement with AON concluded. The Tezos agreement was worth £24m per season.

United confirmed a decrease in their sponsorship revenue in December’s financial results, and the club are braced for a further drop because the sleeve sponsorship deal with DXC Technology, which is thought to be worth £20m per season, will expire at the end of the campaign.
For four seasons, DXC has been featured on the club’s home, away and third kits. The multi-year partnership has also seen DXC use their expertise to improve the way United engage with fans through their digital platforms.
The Premier League permitted sleeve sponsorship from the start of 2017/18. United announced the first sponsors of their sleeves, Kohler, for the following campaign under a multi-year agreement. That deal ended in 2022, which led to DXC coming in.
United sources claim there is a strong pipeline of new sponsors waiting in the wings, but the latest financial numbers show the importance of deals being thrashed out in the coming months.
Commercial revenue also factors in money raised from retail, merchandising, apparel and product licensing revenue, which was £41.3m in the second quarter figures, a decrease of £0.8m from the same period last year.
Matchday revenue at Old Trafford is down on the same period last year. United sources have said the £2.5m decrease is primarily due to United playing three fewer home cup matches in the current quarter, compared to the prior year quarter.
