PHOENIX — Heads up, Arizona: it may only be February, but the hot weather is already coming back.Â
Starting today, a major spike in temperatures could break daily records across Phoenix, Yuma and El Centro.
Hydration and sunscreen are key. You’ll want to keep that in mind for the next couple of days. The warm temperatures are expected to last through the weekend.Â
This comes at a time when you can check out Spring Training games, the Extra Innings Festival, or even the Renaissance Festival.
Drink plenty of water, as the most dangerous heat comes between 2-5 p.m.
The UV index will be at a five. In those conditions, you could get sunburnt in less than 30 minutes. Make sunscreen a priority.Â
For hikers who may be heading out to places like Papago Park, we know that during the summer in the Valley, officials recommend getting off the trails by 10 a.m.Â
It’s obviously only February, but we’re talking about possible record-setting heat heading our way now, so be careful. Â
12News reported a handful of mountain rescues in 2025, which was confirmed as the second-hottest year on record in Phoenix.
This forecast could be a preview for what’s yet to come in 2026.Â
The Valley will see temperatures in the 70s and 80s return next week. Until then, be mindful of those heat safety tips.
