Manchester United are interested in signing a new goalkeeper this summer and could make a real splash between the sticks.

Bryan Mbeumo finally joined Manchester United last week and joins fellow new signing Matheus Cunha in a revamped attack under Ruben Amorim.

The attention now turns to other positions, with United chasing striker Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.

A goalkeeper may also be required, as Andre Onana has picked up an injury and could miss the start of the Premier League season.

Altay Bayindir was expected to leave United this summer and may still go if Amorim lands a new goalkeeper.

Royal Antwerp’s Senne Lammens is a United target, but a much higher-profile stopper may be in mind before next month’s transfer deadline.

Reports have linked United with a move to sign Gianluigi Donnarumma from Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

The Italian stopper played a key role in helping PSG win the Champions League, producing huge saves at key moments.

Donnarumma is out of contract in 2026, and PSG may cash in rather than see him leave for nothing in a year’s time.

The Telegraph claim that United lodged an enquiry to sign Donnarumma earlier in the summer, but didn’t advance on a deal.

PSG are now close to signing Lille goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier, and the French giants believe that United will come back in for Donnarumma once that deal is done.

Luis Enrique’s side are ‘braced’ for a new approach from United, and will seemingly be open to a deal.

Whether Donnarumma is interested in a move to United remains to be seen, as the Italian stopper would go from winning the Champions League to not playing European football at all.

Sesko will be United’s priority for now, but further sales could see United launch a move to sign Donnarumma in another significant addition.

Andre Onana’s days may be numbered

It’s certainly interesting that United are being so heavily linked with Donnarumma, a goalkeeper who would certainly expect to be first-choice at Old Trafford.

Bayindir may well leave, but a deal to bring in Donnarumma would see Onana slip down to second-choice.

Monaco targeted Onana earlier this summer, but a potential move to the Ligue 1 side quickly went cold.

United appear to have two routes in mind: stick with Onana and bring in a young talent such as Lammens, or go big for Donnarumma and move on from Onana.

Whether United would cash in on Onana is unclear, but signing Donnarumma would be a major indication that Amorim doesn’t see Onana as part of his long-term plans.
