HOBOKEN, New Jersey (WABC) — PATH service in and out of Hoboken has been suspended following a track fire on Friday.

Port Authority police and the Hoboken Fire Department responded to a smoke condition at the PATH Hoboken station around 11:30 a.m., and located a small fire in the tunnel.

Officials say the fire was quickly put out, the station was evacuated and no injuries were reported, but the station has been closed as a result, impacting service to several PATH lines.

PATH service between Hoboken and the World Trade Center, and Hoboken and 33rd Street is expected to remain suspended through the evening, according to officials, and does not anticipate it will be restored in time for the commute.

“Service will resume immediately once their work is completed and conditions are safe for operation,” PATH said in an update on social media.

Service between Newark and World Trade Center, and Journal Square to 33rd Street are operating.

PATH directed impacted customers to the following alternative modes of transportation:

– PATH is operating service between 33 Street and World Trade Center to accommodate transfers at Newport for NJ Transit light rail service.

– NJ Transit Rail is cross-honoring PATH at Hoboken, Secaucus, New York Penn Station, and Newark with bus #126 and #87.

– NJ Transit Hudson-Bergen light rail is cross-honoring at Hoboken, Exchange Place and Newport.

– New York Waterway ferries is also cross-honoring customers at Hoboken and Brookfield Place.
