The Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster guitar is now surrounded by construction walls as Disney prepares to reimagine the ride into a Muppets attraction. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith closed permanently on Sunday night, March 1.

As we reported earlier today, the guitar is no longer pictured in the My Disney Experience app. The new Disney’s Hollywood Studios guidemap states the area is the “Future Home of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets.”

The construction walls currently just surround the guitar. The courtyard remains open so guests can access Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After.

Lettering was removed from the guitar and the Aerosmith poster is covered by beige scrim. The poster will be replaced by one featuring the Muppets. The guitar will remain but be repainted and get new light-up lettering.

Concept art for the update is on the construction walls. The colorful new paint job is inspired by The Electric Mayhem’s bus. The piano keys at the base of the guitar will also get one gold key based on Dr. Teeth’s gold tooth.

As usual, the construction walls also feature signs with various Disney quotes.

The ride’s entrance structure is still visible but blocked by rolling planters. An A-frame sign references the Muppets.

“We’re moving right along,” it reads. “Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is currently closed as we load in the band!” The sign was in front of the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster courtyard gates before the space opened this morning.

The Rock Your Face painting station, KRNR The Rock Station food truck, Shop ‘n’ Roll, and Pretzel Palooza all opened and were operating normally on Monday, March 2. We don’t know if any of these kiosks will get new Muppet-related theming.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets will open this summer. Guests will still enter G-Force Records for a V.I.P. tour, this time encountering The Electric Mayhem instead of Aerosmith.
