The Reds headed into their key encounter away to Cardiff on the back of a penalty shootout triumph against the Bluebirds in the final of the Adran Trophy.
There was no resting on their laurels from Jenny Sugarman’s charges, with the 3-1 success at the Cardiff City Stadium making Wrexham the favourites to win the league this season.
Striker Barker, whose two second half goals proved pivotal to the latest victory, told the club’s YouTube channel: “I’m so pleased. I think following the result last week, to back that up again today was massively important.
“It would be easy to sort of lose our heads and maybe let last week take advantage of us.
“But, we haven’t done that and I think we put on a stellar performance.”
All of the goals arrived in the second half. Faye Knox rifled a brilliant effort into the top corner to hand the Reds the lead, but this was cancelled out by Mackenzie Olden.
Barker’s pinpoint effort regained the advantage for the visitors and she added the third from the penalty spot after a foul on Mariam Mahmood.
Barker added: “I think it was just important to focus on us and what we do, and we knew that we had the upper hand. It was for us to go and take and I think, you know, we came out very strong second half and we played our game, like we have done all season and it’s reaped its rewards.”
