Though the winter appears to be dragging on terribly this year, there are definitely some who are enjoying it… Mostly, our pets. It’s the only reason I haven’t started completely freaking out and booking trips to sunnier places.

After last week’s annoying snowstorm, there were plenty of happy pets who were loving the snow. For one Maine Coon cat family, outside is a bit of a stretch… So their dad brought the snow to them!

I truly can’t decide what part of @jay79277‘s video is my favorite: carrying the snow into the bathtub one shovel at a time, the fact that he had this in mind at all, or the cats actually enjoying it. He had to go up a whole flight of stairs to do that!

There are two Maine Coons who were able to enjoy the snow bath: Theo and Ember. Theo is the older brother, though it was Ember (the orange cat, of course) who was interested first. She wasn’t totally sure, but ultimately fell in love.

Do Maine Coons Like Snow?

Jay tried this out, completely unsure of whether they’d actually like it or not. He just thought it might be fun for them, and ultimately, it was.

If you expose your Maine Coon to the snow young enough, they’ll learn to love it. They might even get the zoomies! Maine Coons, in general, really enjoy the water!

Maine Coons hail from Maine; allegedly, some longhaired European cats stowed away on a boat, coming overseas and mating with regular domestic strays. They have long, thick fur and very thick paw pads. They were built for chilly weather.

Maine Coon Enrichment Ideas

This is one of the funniest, but most brilliant enrichment ideas I have ever seen for cats. Maine Coons are very intelligent, energetic cats, and they need enrichment to stay happy and healthy. You could try:

Putting snow in your bathtub.

Letting them swim in the tub.

Getting them a splash pad.

Walks or outside time on a leash or in a stroller.

Luckily, these cats are a lot of fun, and they’re pretty easy to please. As long as they’re with you, they’ll be happy!
