It was a tough night for Tiger Woods and Jupiter Links Golf Club, as they lost in an overtime chip-off by a mere four inches. The heartbreaker meant that Boston Common Golf clinched the regular season’s no. 1 overall seed and that Jupiter Links will need to win on Tuesday night against The Bay in order to lock up their first postseason berth.

The news was considerably better for Tiger fans, however. During Sunday’s match, Jupiter Links’ alpha-in-chief was asked about his readiness for competitive golf following lumbar disc replacement surgery in October. The procedure was Woods’ seventh documented back surgery and left many wondering if his playing days were, after many years of stop-start rehab, officially behind him. From the sound of things, though, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Take it away, Big Cat.
“I’m playing a member-guest. I’m ready to go,” Woods replied to cheers from the crowd. For most golfers, it was an extremely relatable response from the greatest to ever do it. Our respective member-guests are effectively our Masters. We prepare for them for weeks and if we tweak a hammy unloading groceries from the car, we pop a few Advil, wrap it up and power through, because That’s What Tiger Would Do™.
Of course, the member-guest Woods was referring to is no ordinary slap-around. It’s the Seminole Pro-Member, perhaps the most infamous and star-studded member-guest on planet earth. In fact, the tee sheet for Monday looks to be a considerably stronger field than the Cognizant Classic this weekend.

Interestingly enough, Woods is not officially competing this year as he continues to ramp up toward the Masters. His comments on Sunday night suggest he might still take a few cuts, though. After all, what better way to prepare for the major season than by surviving the pressure-cooker that is member-guest golf?
