Is anyone missing a big pile of stuff?
A couch, tattered mattresses, a broken bed frame, throw pillows, board games, a dresser filled with clothes, a box fan, and black trash bags overflowing with all manner of discarded belongings?
If so, swing by the corner of Wolcott and Lloyd streets in Fair Haven and you’ll find what you left behind. Here’s how that corner looked at around 12:30 p.m. Monday.
Update: On Monday afternoon, city spokesperson Lenny Speiller provided the following statement for this story:
“Illegal dumping is not only against the law, it’s insulting to residents, disrespectful to the community and burdensome to the work of the Public Works Department who have been working around the clock to keep our streets clean and cleared of snow.
“There are many ways to properly and responsibly dispose of trash, including scheduling a bulk pick up at a residence or bringing the items to the dump.
“The Public Works Department will be at the site on Tuesday to clean it up. In addition, the contents will be searched for mail and other items that might help identify the individual responsible and to fine them accordingly.”
