The Most Beautiful Place in America now also boasts the most beautiful beach in America, and one of the top five in the world.
The TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Awards named the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore beaches tops in the United States. The ranking trailed locations in South Africa, Italy and the United Kingdom in the category of one-of-a-kind beaches.
Bob Kuras, CEO and owner of The Homestead, said he recognizes the beauty of the area on a daily basis. “We are pleased but not really surprised by this honor,” he said. “The sandy beaches and Caribbean-blue waters of Lake Michigan are hallmarks of the area. Our own mile-long private beach is just one example of the clean, clear waters that attract visitors every year.”
The Homestead is the only resort located in the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.
TripAdvisor uses the awards to celebrate the highest level of excellence in travel. The recognition is awarded to those that receive a high volume of above-and-beyond reviews and opinions from the TripAdvisor community over a 12-month period. Out of 8 million listings, fewer than 1% achieve this milestone.
Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore received an overall rating of 4.8 from more than 1,900 reviewers. With 80 million reviews and contributions, TripAdvisor is one of the largest travel resources in the world.
In addition to the one-of-a-kind category, TripAdvisor recognized the Top 10 Beaches in the World and the Top 10 Beaches in the U.S. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore was the only Michigan location recognized on the listings.
