LeBron James is closing in on another NBA record that is a testament to his longevity and longstanding excellence.

James and the Los Angeles Lakers host the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday night, seeking their third straight win. And just days after becoming the second player in Lakers history to hit 1,000 3-point field goals with the franchise, James is on the precipice of hunting down another Lakers legend for the NBA’s all-time field goals made record.
With 11 more made field goals, James will pass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s mark of 15,837 made field goals.
James already has the record for field goals attempted with 31,262, and he is the NBA’s all-time leading scorer with 43,090 points, a record he took from Abdul-Jabbar back in 2023.

In his 23rd NBA season, James merited selection to his 22nd All-Star game amid averages of 21.6 points, 7.0 assists and 5.6 rebounds per game. A pending free agent in the summer, James’ future with the Lakers is uncertain, as Los Angeles reportedly is considering building long-term around All-Star guard Luka Doncic.
The Lakers (36-24) have won all three of their matchups against the Pelicans (19-43) entering Tuesday night’s game at Crypto.com Arena.
