On Tuesday night, the Washington Wizards played the Orlando Magic in Florida for a March 3 matchup.

The WNBA superstar Angel Reese was in attendance, rocking a Wizards jersey to support her brother, Julian Reese.

As the game played out, Angel Reese participated in a sideline interview to discuss the state of the Wizards and her younger brother’s new journey in the NBA.

Angel Reese Makes A Statement On The Washington Wizards

“As soon as I heard he was going to be on the team, I was like, ‘I need a jersey, especially if you guys are coming to Orlando,’” Reese said.

“I usually cheer for Orlando, but tonight, I’m cheering for DC. [My brother] is going to bring that passion. He plays really hard. He’s really strong. He was a late bloomer, so just being able to see him grow and continue to grow, I’m really happy for him. I was so emotional when I found out. I was crying so hard, like I just hit the lottery.”

Julian Reese, a Baltimore-born forward, attended Maryland from 2021 to 2025. He went undrafted in the 2025 NBA Draft. After going two rounds without a call, Reese signed with the Los Angeles Lakers for the Summer League.

After his run in Las Vegas, Reese landed an Exhibit 10 deal with the Toronto Raptors. He was waived by Toronto and played for their G League affiliate, Raptors 905. On February 28, Reese got the call from the Wizards to ink a two-way contract.

“I’m really excited for DMV hoops,” Reese added. “DC is back. We got some great picks, Trae [Young] coming in, [Anthony Davis], so I’m really happy for DC, and that’s the winning team and the home team.”

Reese logged a start for the Wizards on Tuesday night. He checked in for 33 minutes, going 4-6 from the field and knocking down 1-4 free throws. He scored nine points, along with producing eight rebounds.

The Wizards fell short against the Magic with a 126-109 loss.

Soon, the Wizards will get a major boost in their rotation. The star guard Trae Young is expected to make his debut for the team, nearly two months after getting traded from the Atlanta Hawks.

While the 16-45 Wizards are still clearly outside of the postseason picture, they will get an opportunity to see what the future holds with the multi-time All-Star in the lineup.

Angel Reese recently competed in Unrivaled. Although she didn’t begin the season in the league, Reese signed late in the year.

Now, the veteran center is eyeing a third season in the WNBA. Following a successful run at LSU (after initially attending Maryland), Reese was selected 7th overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft by the Chicago Sky.

Since landing in the league, Reese is a two-time All-Star, two-time rebounding leader, and made the All-Rookie team in 2024.

In 64 career games, Reese has posted averages of 14.7 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 2.7 assists. In the WNBA and Unrivaled, Reese has established herself as one of the top rebounders and defenders in basketball.
