The ensemble of Hogwarts students during Harry’s first year is being fleshed out further with new Harry Potter series casting updates for Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw.
As the Harry Potter TV show gears up for its 2027 release on HBO, the network has now revealed the young actors who will portray iconic book characters from the four Hogwarts houses. Joining the expansive Harry Potter series’ previously-disclosed cast, the new update includes five characters from Gryffindor, eight from Slytherin, four from Hufflepuff, and four from Ravenclaw. To showcase the group of stars portraying the Harry Potter students, HBO released images of the actors wearing their characters’ respective house colors.
From Gryffindor, the new additions include Eire Farrell as Katie Bell, Asha Soetan as Angelina Johnson, Orson Matthews as Oliver Wood, Serrana Su-Ling Bliss as Alicia Spinnet, and Ethan Smith as Lee Jordan. Notably, several of these characters are on the Gryffindor quidditch team that Harry joins in the first novel.
This group of actors join the previously-announced Gryffindor cast of Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown, Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbotton, Tristan and Gabriel Harland as Fred and George Weasley, Elijah Oshin as Dean Thomas, and Ruari Spooner as Percy Weasley.
Harry Potter’s newly-revealed cast members in House Slytherin include Eddison Burch as Miles Bletchley, James Dowll as Lucian Bole, Oliver Croft as Marcus Flint, Dylan Heath as Adrian Pucey, Henry Medhurst as Peregrine Derrick, Cornelius Brandreth as Terence Higgs, Laila Barwick as Pansy Parkinson, and D’angelou Osei-Kissiedu as Graham Montague. Already sorted into the green-hued house for season 1 are Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Finn Stephens as Vincent Crabbe, and William Nash as Gregory Goyle.
Among the recent additions to Hufflepuff are India Moon as Hannah Abbott, Jazmyn Lewin as Susan Bones, Cian Eagle-Service as Ernie Macmillan, and James Trevelyan Buckle as Justin Finch-Fletchley. Throughout Harry Potter season 1’s story, these students will be under the leadership of Sirine Saba as Pomona Sprout, the professor that also serves as Head of Hufflepuff House.
Rounding out the ensemble confirmed in HBO’s new Harry Potter images from Ravenclaw House are Aaron Zhao as Terry Boot, Eve Walls as Lisa Turpin, Scarlett Archer as Penelope Clearwater, and Anjula Murali as Padma Patil. They’ll be joined by the returning Harry Potter movies actor Warwick Davis as Filius Flitwick, the Head of Ravenclaw House and Hogwarts’ Professor of Charms.
Though HBO has yet to reveal the specific release date, Harry Potter season 1 is set to premiere in early 2027, with filming having been underway since summer 2025. Ahead of the series premiere, HBO executive Casey Bloys revealed that writing on Harry Potter season 2 has already begun, with the TV show making it a priority to avoid “massive gaps” between seasons.
The first season will contain eight total episodes, adapting the 1997 novel Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (as it’s known in the U.S., after originally being published as Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone). Though several official set photos from HBO have been released in anticipation of Harry Potter’s release, new stills and footage from the series have still yet to come.
