From the moment Jayson Tatum suffered his Achilles tendon injury, both Derrick White and Jaylen Brown have been the subject of trade rumors. The idea has been that the Boston Celtics could look to enter a rebuilding phase, as they plan to construct a younger, more athletic roster around Tatum once he’s back on the court.
Brad Stevens has different ideas, though. He’s leaned into the concept of retooling around a core three of Tatum, Brown and White. That means the supporting cast is under reconstruction, with multiple young, unproven talents being given an opportunity to prove themselves in Joe Mazzulla’s rotation next season.

Despite the fact Boston has clearly picked a lane in how it wants to approach the transitional phase it finds itself in, both Brown and White have still been forced to navigate an uncertain summer, where their names have consistently appeared in trade proposals from the media.
During a recent interview with NBC Sports Boston, White opened up on how he’s been dealing with the increased interest in his position on the Celtics roster and his goals for the upcoming season.
