PITCHING REPORT: In Surprise, right-hander Victor Mederos gave up a grand slam in the first inning after walking two straight hitters to load the bases. Mederos followed that with two scoreless innings. Mederos is most likely ticketed for the Triple-A rotation. …. Right-hander Sam Bachman worked two scoreless innings, striking out five. He threw 33 pitches, and 15 of them were whiffs or called strikes. Bachman has not allowed a run in any of his first three games this spring. “He’s been throwing the ball really good,” manager Kurt Suzuki said. “Multiple (innings) today. Velocity (98 mph fastball average) was good. He threw some sliders, changeups. He was good today.” … Right-hander Trey Gregory-Alford, 19, pitched in his first big league spring training game. One of the Angels’ top pitching prospects, Gregory-Alford, allowed a two-run homer in his first inning, but added a perfect second. His fastball averaged 97 mph and topped at 99 mph. Although he got too much of the plate in his first inning, he threw 20 strikes among his 29 pitches. “He was attacking,” Suzuki said. “He wasn’t afraid, which, for a 19-year-old in a big league spring training game, was pretty cool to see.”… In Las Vegas, right-hander Jack Kochanowicz gave up one run in four innings, facing the top half of the A’s everyday lineup. Nick Kurtz, Jacob Wilson, Tyler Soderstrom and Brent Rooker combined to go 1-for-8 against Kochanowicz. Kochanowicz struck out two and didn’t walk anyone. He threw first-pitch strikes to 10 of the 14 hitters he faced, correcting a problem he’d worked around in his earlier outings. Kochanowicz, who is fighting for the No. 5 spot in the rotation, has a 2.08 ERA in 8⅔ innings this spring. … Right-hander Kaleb Ort entered with a 3-2 lead in the seventh and gave up three runs.
