While it’s frustrating that former Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville is tearing it up for rivals West Ham, it’s about to bring a cash windfall to Elland Road.

The feel good mood was restored this afternoon with Leeds running out comfortable 3-0 winners in the FA Cup fifth round.

It could be vital to keep us at full tilt for the remainder of the Premier League season too. Keeping our noses in front of Crysencio Summerville’s West Ham is the aim.

Crysencio Summerville set for first Netherlands call-up as West Ham form continues

The midweek Leeds panic set in when Summerville wrapped in the Irons’ winner away at Fulham on Wednesday night.

It was the Dutch winger’s seventh goal in 10 games across all competitions, firmly restoring West Ham’s hopes of staying up and bridging the gap to Leeds and co.

Away from the London Stadium, Summerville’s form has finally caught the attention of Netherlands head coach Ronald Koeman.

“I’m positive about Summerville. Our biggest competition is at the back and in midfield; in attack, it’s a bit less so. So, a player who plays in the Premier League, is important at West Ham, and can play on both the left and right wing is something we’re looking at very closely,” Koeman told ESPN, via Football Oranje.

“He’s also very clever in maintaining possession and has a high level of efficiency in his play. That’s what you’re looking for. He’s used to playing with full intensity, both forward and back.”

Leeds United set to make up to £4million in Crysencio Summerville add-ons with Netherlands call-up

Why does this relate to Leeds? I hear you ask.

Well, when Summerville left Elland Road for the Irons in August 2024 for an initial £25million, his transfer was reported by reliable source West Ham Football as having upwards of £9million in various add-ons to be triggered.

Included in that is the prospect of a senior international debut that could be worth £4million to Leeds. Koeman’s lofty praise of the winger suggests a call-up is imminent for this month’s international break.

If that’s the case, it’s expected that Leeds are in line to have that significant portion of add-ons triggered.

While it’s unfortunate that this money has come by virtue of a star player at a relegation rival hitting blistering form, it’s a welcome addition to the club’s accounts.
