The boil advisory was issued Monday after a large break at South Carrollton and Panola Street.
NEW ORLEANS — East Bank residents can go back to using their water as normal after tests by the Sewerage and Water Board confirmed the water was safe to drink.
The Sewerage and Water Board has lifted the boil water advisory in Uptown, the CBD, French Quarter, 9th Ward, Mid City, and Gentilly, as well as two separate areas in New Orleans East.
The boil advisory was issued Monday after a large break at South Carrollton and Panola Street sent water flooding through the streets and left many residents with low water pressure. It was the second major disruption in two weeks and the second incident on Panola Street this year, after a 48-inch break in January caused a sinkhole.
SWBNO officials say water pressures in this area fell below 20 pounds per square inch (psi). Crews are onsite and are continuing to work on repairs to the water main.
