Siniakova, who is currently ranked No. 44, spoke with Tennis Channel about the “pressure” that was on the reigning champion to maintain her title.
“I knew the pressure was on her. I was trying to enjoy it, because finally I was on the other side when I have nothing to lose,” she said in a post-match interview. “She’s an amazing player. You need to play long rallies, you need to do it on your own.”
Next, Siniakova takes on Ukrainian pro Elina Svitolina at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11.
