Charlotte County man with lengthy arrest history sentenced to 25 years in prison

A man who has been arrested in connection with a series of incidents received his sentence after pleading no contest to a laundry list of charges.Anthony Mojica, 20, has had multiple run-ins with the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office and Punta Gorda Police Department dating back to 2018 when he was 13 years old.According to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, Mojica’s first felony arrest came in 2019, when he faced three drug-related felonies and two misdemeanors (including resisting arrest).In January 2020, Mojica was arrested for shooting at the hood and windshield of an occupied RV. He also faced charges for violating his probation. Six months later, CCSO said he was arrested again for violation of probation.Mojica was arrested again in October 2020 and faced 10 burglary and larceny charges. In January 2021, he was arrested again on drug possession and paraphernalia charges.According to the sheriff’s office, Mojica ran away from a mandated facility twice in March 2022 before he was arrested the following month on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Deputies said Mojica fired a gun from a vehicle at another person and also faced more drug-related charges and resisted his arrest.Mojica’s run-ins with the law didn’t stop there, as he was arrested again three weeks later for possession of a controlled substance and violation of probation. He failed to appear for a court hearing in June, absconded again in July and violated probation in October, according to CCSO.In April 2025, Mojica was arrested for discharging a firearm in a Walmart parking lot. He faced four felony charges and was charged with possession of 39 grams of fentanyl and 34 grams of cocaine. CCSO said a trafficking amount of fentanyl is four grams.Mojica was sentenced to serve 25 years in prison, the mandatory minimum for his charge of trafficking fentanyl, and he will face five years of probation following his release.
