“Due to the extent of the damage, we advise customers to anticipate a restoration process that may take several days. Some outages are more complex and take time to repair,” the post continued. “Along with our local crews, mutual aid crews from other utilities are on their way to help, allowing us to restore power to customers as quickly as conditions allow.”
As of 8:50 p.m., more than 48,000 people were without power in the region.
In Montgomery County, AES Ohio had 18,850 customers without service, according to the outage map. Large outages were reported near Cornell Heights and Wegerzyn Gardens MetroPark in Dayton, the Rip Rad and Chambersburg roads area in Vandalia and Huber Heights and south of Carriage Hill MetroPark.
There are reports of traffic lights being out on Wayne Avenue. A franchise restaurant Wendy’s at Wayne Avenue and Wyoming Street is without power, according to reports.

Strong winds are expected into the evening in the Miami Valley region, but will diminish as the hours go by.

“Please stay safe. Always stay away from downed or damaged power lines and assume they are energized,” AES Ohio said in the post. “Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through this together.”
