Victor Wembanyama has quickly proven he is one of the rare talents in the NBA and continues to earn admiration from everyone in the basketball world. Even seasoned veterans, players who usually hesitate before wholeheartedly praising younger players, are starting to openly acknowledge the dominance of the 7’5″ Frenchmen.

Draymond Green recently showed exactly that when the former DPOY made it clear that Wemby shouldn’t ever be placed in the same category as other elite two-way players because he simply isn’t human enough.

Wemby is unlike any other player

When Wembanyama first entered the league, many critics believed that his slender frame would be easily exploited by stronger and more experienced big men. Instead, he immediately proved those doubts wrong by averaging 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds and a league-high 3.6 blocks per game, sending a clear message that once he matures on the court, very few will be able to stand in his way.

Although his 2024-25 campaign ended earlier than expected, Victor has looked more determined than ever in the 2025-26 season to make noise with his young San Antonio Spurs. The team is still within touching distance of hunting the OKC Thunder for the best record in the league.

Wemby has been the dynamo of that growth, averaging 24.2, 11.1 rebounds and once again a league-leading 3.0 blocks per game — while shooting 50.6 percent from the field and 36.0 percent from the three-point line.

Draymond echoed that sentiment, emphasizing how Wembanyama stands apart from every other two-way player in the league. While most stars can be contained in one area or another, Wemby protects the rim like an elite big man while attacking offensively with guard-like skills, making him a nightmare matchup for any team.

That rare combination, Green believes, is exactly why it makes little sense to place Wembanyama in the same category as conventional players.

“He is this otherworldly thing, man. Like, I’m not even going to say otherworldly person, he is just this otherworldly thing and everything that he does is going to take you like four people to do,” Green said on his podcast. “Like, he is that special of a player. Wemby’s been incredible, man… He’s something else. Putting him in a category with everybody else, it just ain’t. He’s something else, we’re just gonna put it that way. He’s different from every player.”

Wembanyama is earning praise from all corners

Even superstars from the new generation have wholeheartedly started acknowledging how special the young Spurs is. For instance, Jaylen Brown, among the most confident players of today, recently admitted there is no one he would rank above himself in terms of impact on the basketball court right now. However, the only exception remained Wembanyama, joking that the Spurs center doesn’t even qualify as human.

Comments like that show how, at just 22 years old, Wemby is already forcing players across the league to reassess the standard of dominance. With voices like Brown and Draymond Green saying it out loud, the league is beginning to accept what opponents are already experiencing on the floor.
