Firefighters battling a trailer fire in Freeport late Tuesday night discovered the body of a man inside the burned-out ruins, officials said.
The Freeport Fire Department was alerted to a trailer on fire on Commercial Street at about 11:45 p.m., Nassau Chief Fire Marshal Michael Uttaro said in a statement.
The trailer was completely engulfed in flames and crews quickly extinguished the fire but then found the man’s body in the remains of the trailer, Uttaro said.
The victim, who was declared dead at the scene, was not yet been identified.
No other injuries were reported; The cause of the fire was under investigation.
