LANE COUNTY, Ore. — Oregon lawmakers are calling for a formal state review of a new health care arrangement involving ApolloMD and PeaceHealth, citing concerns about transparency and potential impacts on patient care.

In a letter dated March 18, members of the Oregon House of Representatives asked ApolloMD executives to submit details of their agreement for evaluation under the state’s health care oversight process. The request centers on services provided at PeaceHealth RiverBend Medical Center.

The lawmakers said key questions remain about a management services agreement between ApolloMD Business Services and Lane Emergency Physicians, LLC, particularly how the arrangement could affect health care access and delivery in the region.

They urged the companies to seek a review through the Oregon Health Authority’s Health Care Market Oversight program, which evaluates whether transactions in the health care sector meet state requirements and warrant further scrutiny.

“This is a request for transparency so that Oregonians can have confidence that this transaction complies with state law,” the lawmakers wrote.

The review process would determine whether the agreement qualifies as a “material change” under Oregon law, a designation that could trigger a more extensive regulatory review. Lawmakers noted the request comes as the state implements Senate Bill 951, which aims to strengthen oversight of health care business deals.

The letter emphasized that the initial review would not determine whether the arrangement complies with the law, but rather whether it should undergo deeper examination.

Lawmakers said they are available to discuss the request and urged ApolloMD and PeaceHealth to act promptly.
