Mat Ishbia’s Suns Will Host the 2027 NBA All-Star Game
Mat Ishbia, president and CEO of Pontiac-based United Wholesale Mortgage, also is the owner of the NBA’s Phoenix Suns.
While the Suns have not lived up to expectations since Ishbia purchased the team in 2022, they have landed an NBA prize. They’ve been selected to host the 2027 NBA All-Star Game on Feb. 21, 2027, at the Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix.
Ishbia played basketball from 1999-2002 at Michigan State University. He was a walk-on point guard at MSU after a stellar prep career at Birmingham Seaholm High School. The Spartans played in three Final Fours and won the NCAA national championship in 2000 when Ishbia was on the team.
Ishbia played on Detroit basketball teams for three years at the JCC Maccabi Games before his Seaholm and Michigan State days.
