‘Take It To My Grave’ – Cleveland Radio Host Unleashes Shedeur Sanders Rant originally appeared on The Spun.

There are many fans – Cleveland Browns fans and just general football fans – who believe that rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders should already be the team’s starting quarterback and are starting to feel that the team isn’t giving him his fair shot. That led to a rant from a Cleveland radio show host on the topic.

Ken Carman of 92.3 The Fan went off on those accusing the Browns of sabotaging Sanders’ chances of being the starter. He declared that he would “take it to my grave” that the Browns are not trying to break Sanders.

“They are doing everything they can to provide the fairest shot possible for him,” Carman said, via the New York Post. “I will take it to my grave, whether it’s in the next minute, the next 30 minutes, or the next 30 years, I will take it to my grave and say it right to St. Peter’s face: They are doing nothing to try to break a quarterback.

“They’re doing nothing to try to break Shedeur Sanders. Especially Shedeur Sanders. For anybody out there who is not a real Brown fans who might be listening to this, I’m telling you right now, shaking as hard as I can, they are not doing anything to try to sabotage, or try to break Shedeur Sanders or to not be fair to Shedeur Sanders.”

Carman believes that Sanders is already such a big draw for Cleveland as the fourth-string QB on the depth chart that the team isn’t trying to hurt him by limiting his opportunities.

“How many jerseys did he already sell? How many autographs has he already signed in Greater Cleveland? How many events has he already had in Greater Cleveland?,” he continued. “How much charitable contribution has this man made to society over the last umpteen years here, or at least the last four since he was at Jackson State, and certainly probably before because of who his father is. How many things has he done?”

So why isn’t Sanders the starter yet?

The Cleveland Browns drafted Sanders in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Despite Sanders previously being tipped to be taken in the first round and even the top five by many analysts, the Browns took an entirely different QB (Dillon Gabriel) in the second round before Sanders fell to them.

Cleveland didn’t make things any easier on Sanders by including him in a four-way QB battle to start the season. He is competing against Gabriel and veterans Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett.

Early on in minicamp and pre-training camp practices, Sanders looked sharp, hardly missing any of his passes.

But a couple of tickets for speeding quickly removed some of the luster from his stellar start. People quickly started questioning if he has the maturity to be an NFL starter.

Publicly, the Browns have seemingly forgiven Sanders completely, saying only nice things about him. But you never know what teams are thinking privately.

What would it take for Sanders to be the Week 1 starter?
