Olney Golf Park has issued a statement addressing recent reports that the property could be redeveloped into a residential community, confirming that the site is under contract but emphasizing that no immediate changes are planned.

In a message shared with customers in March 2026, the longtime Olney driving range and golf facility said rumors about a potential sale are true, but noted that the project is still in its early stages and remains subject to Montgomery County approvals. Ownership said nothing will move forward until after a final closing and a lengthy process involving zoning and permitting, adding that there is currently no set timeline.

“For today and the foreseeable future, nothing is changing,” the statement reads, adding that operations will continue as usual, including range balls, lessons, fittings, camps, club repair and other services. The business said it expects to remain open for an estimated two years, though that timeline could change depending on approvals.

The announcement comes after a proposal surfaced from Pulte Home Companies to redevelop the more than 22-acre property at 3414 Emory Church Road into a 235-unit townhome community, pending a zoning change. That process is still in its early stages and would require review and approval from the Montgomery County Planning Board.

Olney Golf Park, which has operated in the community for decades, acknowledged the challenges facing small businesses but expressed appreciation for customer support over the years. The statement noted the staff’s close connection with regular visitors and encouraged the community to continue supporting the facility while it remains open.

“Spring is here, golf season is beginning, and we hope to see you all soon,” the statement concludes.
