MADISON, Wis. – A planned debate between the two candidates for an open seat on the Wisconsin State Supreme Court will not take place as scheduled this evening, as one of the candidates has fallen ill.
Representatives for Judge Chris Taylor say she is unable to participate in the debate that was to take place at Marquette University in Milwaukee between herself and Judge Maria Lazar, according to a release from her campaign team.
“This morning Judge Taylor visited urgent care after waking up feeling unwell. Physicians then recommended she visit the hospital for additional evaluation,” read the release March 25. “While she is unable to participate in tonight’s debate, we look forward to rescheduling and finding an opportunity for voters to hear from both candidates before Election Day.”
Both campaigns and debate organizers are working to reschedule the event; early voting for the spring race has already begun in Milwaukee ahead of Election Day April 7th.
This is a breaking news story; more information will be added as it becomes available.
