Jannik Sinner is bidding to become the first man since Roger Federer in 2017 to complete the coveted ‘Sunshine Double’ of winning the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells and the Miami Open presented by Itau in the same year.

After triumphing in Indian Wells without dropping a set, the second-seeded Italian has made serene progress through the draw at Hard Rock Stadium, where he is also yet to drop a set across his three matches so far. On Thursday at 1 p.m. EDT (6 p.m. GMT), Sinner will take on home favourite Frances Tiafoe in the quarter-finals.

Sinner, who holds a 4-1 Lexus ATP Head2Head lead against the 19th-seeded Tiafoe, is aiming to win the Miami trophy for the second time after he triumphed in 2024. The 24-year-old holds a 22-3 record overall at the event in South Florida, according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index.

In his last-eight meeting with Tiafoe, Sinner will also aim to extend his record streak of consecutive sets won at ATP Masters 1000 level. The Italian upped his tally to 28 consecutive sets with his fourth-round victory against Alex Michelsen. The winner of Sinner and Tiafoe’s Hard Rock Stadium clash will take on third seed Alexander Zverev or 18th seed Francisco Cerundolo in Friday’s semi-finals.
