What can James Franklin accomplish in his first year at Virginia Tech? (Ivan Morozov)
1) There’s no question the Hokies were dealt a tough hand with their 2026 schedule with having to travel to SMU for their fifth league road game. But if you go by the over/under win totals available for each team on the gambling apps, this schedule is far less difficult than that of many SEC/Big Ten teams. Here’s the breakdown:
• VMI — n/a
• Old Dominion — not available yet
• at Maryland — 4.5
• at BC — 3.5
• Pitt — 7.5
• at Cal — 6.5
• Georgia Tech — 6.5
• at Clemson — 7.5
• at SMU — 8.5
• Stanford — 3.5
• at Miami — 10.5
• Virginia — 7.5
Perhaps we’ve reached the part of the offseason where optimism abounds, but this feels like a schedule where every game, maybe sans Miami, is winnable. Do you think past poor performance against mediocre ACC teams is causing us to be less confident against this schedule than maybe we should be? — MBHokie90
Chris Coleman: I’m going to assume wins against VMI and Old Dominion and focus on those other 10 games. I’m also going to assume MBHokie90’s numbers are correct, and I’m not going to double-check them.
