Eight first-round matches are scheduled on Day 2 of the ATP 250 tournament in Marrakech, Morocco. This article features 2024 champion Matteo Berrettini facing off against Peru’s Ignacio Buse. As always, we at LWOT will offer predictions for every match on the slate. But who will advance to the next round?
ATP Marrakech Day 2 Predictions
Camilo Ugo Carabelli vs Timofey Skatov
Head-to-Head: Ugo Carabelli 1-0Â Skatov
Camilo Ugo Carabelli did well to get a couple of wins at the Sunshine Double and will be eager to win some matches on his preferred surface. The Argentine is taking part in this tournament for the first time and gets a winnable first-round match. Qualifier Timofey Skatov has slipped outside the Top 200 in the rankings and is looking for his first Tour-level win since 2024. Skatov did well to qualify, but Ugo Carabelli is a superior player currently.
Prediction: Ugo Carabelli in 3
Henrique Rocha vs Marco Trungelliti
Head-to-Head: Rocha 0-2 Trungelliti
21-year-old Henrique Rocha played two fantastic matches to qualify for the main draw and will be looking to show the level that got him here. Rocha has performed well at the Challenger Tour this season, but has yet to win a match on the ATP Tour. I think this is a great opportunity for him to show his talent and defeat the 36-year-old Marco Trungelliti.
Prediction: Rocha in 3
Alexandre Muller vs Federico Cina
Head-to-Head: first meeting
Alexandre Muller achieved a career-high ranking of #38 in August last year, but he is now on the verge of slipping outside the Top 100. He has a great record at this tournament, making the final in 2023 and the quarterfinal last year, which should help him play freely and his best tennis. 19-year-old Federico Cina has limited experience on the ATP Tour, but he has won a lot of matches on the Challenger Tour in the last 15 months and can be a stern challenge for the Frenchman.
Prediction: Muller in 3
Matteo Berrettini vs Ignacio Buse
Head-to-Head: Berrettini 0-1 Buse
Former World No.6 Matteo Berrettini has made one quarterfinal this season, where he lost to his first-round opponent Ignacio Buse in three sets. He will be eager to avenge the loss and make a solid start towards another potential title run. Buse has shown his potential on this surface and is the higher-ranked player in this matchup. However, Berrettini’s quality can’t be underestimated, and these high altitude conditions suit his game. I am backing him to win this.
Prediction: Berrettini in 2
