Day 3 at the WTA Credit One Charleston Open on the green clay should deliver some competitive second-round battles. A few players are coming off solid opening wins, and with the surface rewarding patience and topspin, it will be interesting to see how their early-season momentum and clay-court comfort play out. As always, we here at LWOT will be offering our predictions for every match on the schedule. But who will advance?
WTA Charleston Day 3 Predictions
Hailey Baptiste vs Renata Zarazua
Head-to-Head: Zarazua 3–1 BaptisteÂ
Zarazua looked sharp in her first-round win over Sloane Stephens, rolling through in straight sets with clean baseline play. The Mexican has built a strong clay record over the years at lower levels and knows how to grind out points here. Baptiste, though, enters with better overall consistency this season and a heavier forehand that can push opponents around the court. She has shown the ability to adjust quickly to different surfaces and should have the tools to dictate play if she stays aggressive.
Prediction: Baptiste in 3
Bianca Andreescu vs Sofia Kenin
Head-to-Head: Andreescu 4–1 Kenin
Andreescu has looked refreshed in 2026 after picking up an ITF clay title early in the year and fighting back from a set down in her opening match here. Her movement and variety have always worked well on slower courts when she is healthy. Kenin reached the final in Charleston last season and clearly enjoys the conditions, using her variety to disrupt rhythm. Still, Andreescu’s recent match play on clay gives her a slight edge in handling the longer rallies that tend to develop here.
Prediction: Andreescu in 3
Anna Bondar vs Magdalena Frech
Head-to-Head: Bondar 1–0 Frech
Bondar is one of the more reliable clay-court performers on the Tour, with a career record that shows she thrives when the ball is slower and rallies get physical. She has the steady baseline game and topspin to wear opponents down. Frech is a solid all-court player who can mix things up, but she has had less success on clay lately and tends to prefer faster conditions where her flat shots can do more damage. The Hungarian’s experience on this surface should help her control the tempo.
Prediction: Bondar in 2
Iva Jovic vs Alycia Parks
Head-to-Head: Jovic 1–0 Parks
The young American Jovic has shown real promise this season and already has a clay-court win over Parks from last year in Bogota. She moves well, competes hard, and seems comfortable extending points on the dirt. Parks brings big power and can take over a match with her serve, but clay is not her favorite surface and she has struggled more when rallies get long. Jovic’s recent form and familiarity with the slower pace should let her stay steady.
Prediction: Jovic in 2
