Pip watch begins as Big Bear bald eagles care for 2 eggs in nest

BIG BEAR, Calif. (KABC) — We’re now on pip watch for some potential new eaglets in Big Bear.

The celebrated bald eagle couple Jackie and Shadow are currently caring for two eggs in their nest, which is monitored via a camera operated by nonprofit Friends of Big Bear Valley.

Jackie laid two eggs in February after their nest was invaded by ravens when the bald eagles were away, breaching the two eggs Jackie had previously laid.

Now fans of the couple and animal conservationists are waiting for the first of their two eggs to hatch.

It can take between two and three days for the chick to fully hatch after breaking through the shell.
