Apple turns 50: Remember the iPhone launch that changed everything
The highly anticipated device combined phone, internet and media features, but its price gave some buyers pause.
It’s the larger life display that’s catching everyone’s attention. Tomorrow, after *** six month advertising campaign, the iPhone will finally be for sale. It’s *** game changer for the wireless industry, and wireless will never be the same after Friday. This is Apple’s self-proclaimed reinvention of the cell phone. It combines mobile service with web browsing, music playing, even movie watching all in one device, and it’s controlled on *** touch screen in *** pinch or *** flick. Trust me, try it. It’ll be the easiest to use phone that you’ve ever had. But industry experts say the phone is not reinventing the wheel, just making it better. Phones like this have existed before, but they’ve been in *** very niche market for like techie guys and geeks. This is *** phone that anybody can use that has *** lot, *** lot of nice. Features that are really easy to use for some, there is an obstacle in purchasing the new iPhone. AT&T is the exclusive carrier to the phone service, so you may be locked into another carrier. Well, there are websites set up so you can swap out or sell your service to free you up to buy the iPhone. In fact, iPhone frenzy is in full effect all across the country. People are camping out to be the first in line to buy the $500 to $600 phone. Buyers must also purchase *** 2 year service plan. Rate plans there range from $60 to $100 per month. It’s the cell phone that promises to change the industry. But is it worth it? Do you need to stand in line to buy it? I think only you can answer that question. If you’re the kind of person that looks at that and thinks this is the coolest thing ever and I don’t mind spending $500 to get one on the cheap end, then yeah, go stand in line. This is *** great, great piece of technology. If on the other hand, you have some lingering doubts, there’s no harm in waiting. There’s certainly going to be more tomorrow. In Sacramento, Chris Riva, KCRI 3 reports.
